CANCELLED – Game 2, Sunday 12 December at the NCCC

December 9, 2021 | UC Capitals news

The WNBL have announced that the scheduled game between the UC Capitals and the Sydney Flames on Sunday 12 December has been cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 case.

A member of the UC Caps club (who has since tested positive) attended a full team training session on Tuesday morning. Under ACT Government Health rules, all players and coaches in attendance are deemed close contacts and have been tested and are currently undergoing a 7-day isolation period.

The WNBL will work with both teams to reschedule the game to a later date in the season.

General Manager of the UC Capitals, Lucille Bailie, said that while it’s unfortunate to have to cancel our first game of the season, the health and wellbeing of the team and community comes first.

“We knew there was always a risk of COVID disruptions, so with the help of ACT Government and the WNBL, we will adapt as required. The important thing now is ensuring that our team is fully supported as they undergo this isolation period.

“We would like to thank all of our fans who joined us in generating such a buzz for the first home game by purchasing memberships and tickets and sharing your excitement. We appreciate your support and we look forward to seeing you at the NCCC soon.”

All ticket holders for Sunday’s game as well as members will be contacted directly with more information.
