Carrie Graf to enter the ACT Sport Hall of Fame
Former UC Capitals championship coach and current UC Director of Sport, Carrie Graf, is set to be inducted into the ACT Sport Hall of Fame for her dedication to basketball and women’s sport in Canberra.
ACT Deputy Chief Minister, Yvette Berry MLA, announced Graf as one of four new inductees to be welcomed this year, celebrated for excellence in their field and their contribution to our sporting community.
Located at the Sporting Commons at the University of Canberra, the ACT Sport Hall of Fame began in 1995 and recognises both athletes (Full Member) and non-athletes, including coaches, officials, sport scientists, journalists and administrators (Associate Member) from our region.
This year the ACT Sport Hall of Fame will welcome:
• Katrina Fanning – Full Member – Rugby League
• Brad Haddin – Full Member – Cricket
• Carrie Graf – Associate Member – Basketball
• Ron Harvey – Associate Member – Basketball
All four will all be formally inducted at the 2024 CBR Sport Awards event to be held on the 27 November at Belconnen Arts Centre.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Yvette Berry congratulated the inductees and said it was great to see two more women inducted into the ACT Sport Hall of Fame.
“Each year the ACT Sport Hall of Fame inducts a select group of people who have been nominated by their sport for their achievements and enormous contribution, making our community proud and adding yet another chapter to our community’s rich sporting history,” Minister Berry said.
“Congratulations to the four new inductees into the ACT Sport Hall of Fame – Katrina Fanning, Carrie Graf, Ron Harvey and Brad Haddin. Your achievements and service to sport in Canberra and Australia inspires us all.”
Jade Melbourne will also represent the Caps at the awards night, as a finalist for the Athlete of the Year – Women’s Sport. The CBR Sport Award winners will be announced on 27 November. Tickets to the CBR Sport Awards can be purchased from the event website at www.cbrsportawards.com.au
