Indiah Bowyer joins the UC Capitals for upcoming season
The UC Capitals are delighted to announce Indiah Bowyer has committed to the UC Capitals for the upcoming WNBL season.
The 173cm guard joins the team following a successful season with the Townsville Flames in NBL1 North, where she averaged 15 points, 3.4 assists and 3 rebounds per game. Previous to that, Indiah had a taste of the WNBL as Development Player for the Sydney Flames and Townsville Fire.
“I am very excited to be joining the Caps. To have this opportunity I just feel grateful,” Indiah told the UC Capitals.
“I am most looking forward to being part of the team culture and to experience it as a roster player is even more exciting.”
The 21-year-old grew up playing junior basketball in Queensland and was soon selected to represent Australia in junior national teams, playing for the U16s Oceania and U19s Gems.
After following her career for many years, UC Capitals Head Coach Paul Goriss sees Indiah as a scoring weapon off the bench.
“Indiah can score and shoot the ball very well and create her own shot. We needed scoring off the bench this season and I am sure Indiah will make the most of every opportunity.
“She is hungry for an opportunity to prove herself in the WNBL and I have only heard great things about her work ethic, and I appreciate the work she has put in to get this opportunity with the Caps.”
Excited to experience her first season as a rostered player, Indiah says she won’t be putting too much pressure on herself.
“I am mostly wanting to just get my feet under me, work hard and learn as much as I can whilst being the best teammate and player I can be.”
Join Indiah and the UC Capitals at the AIS Arena this season. Memberships for the upcoming season go on sale to the general public September 13.
