Jade Kirisome signs on for the UC Capitals
The UC Capitals would like to announce the signing of Jade Kirisome to the playing roster, ahead of their round 3 match against the Sydney Flames.
Born in Brisbane, Jade has gone on to play four years of NCAA Division I basketball at St Mary’s, and has most recently completed a season in the New Zealand league with Whai Basketball.
“I’m super excited to be joining the UC Capitals and am looking forward to hitting the ground running with the team this week!” The 23-year-old said.
“It’s such a great opportunity to be part of a young and talented squad, and to really be able to develop my game under such a great coaching staff with Vealy and Paul Goriss”.
Across her season with Whai she averaged 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists per game, and had a 100% free throw percentage.
“Competing against top athletes is only going to elevate my game and help me learn a lot, so I’m looking forward to playing at the highest level in Australia,” she said.
Jade was also a part of the Basketball Australia U19s Gems camp in 2019, alongside current Caps player’s Alex Fowler and Gemma Potter.
“We are very excited to be welcoming Jade to the Capitals. Jade is a wonderful fit for our group and will suit both our on-court style of play and off court culture,” UC Capitals head coach Kristen Veal said.
“Jade is a great shooter with a versatile offensive skill package who has the ability to play make and brings a solid defensive mindset.
“We look forward to giving Jade her first opportunity in the WNBL and have no doubt she will grab it with both hands.”
Jade will wear the number 13 jersey for her first few games before the number 7 becomes available.
