Maddison Rocci re-signs for the UC Capitals 2020-21 title defence
Maddison Rocci has re-signed with the UC Capitals for another year as the club continues to lure back the core group from last season’s championship side.
Joining several of her teammates from the past two Championships, the 22-year-old Guard couldn’t turn down the chance to see out what the team can do a third time around.
“The thing that motivated me to come back to the Caps again was the team that Paul was putting together and the people that were returning from last season.
“I have also developed so much being at the Caps under Paul, so I’m ready to take the next step and improve my game even more.
“I love playing for the Caps and being involved in there program has really helped me a lot. I also can’t forget playing in front of our amazing fans who support us,” said Rocci.
Rocci had originally planned to play with the USC RIP City in the NBL1 North Conference, but the season was cancelled in light of COVID-19.
“At the start it took a while to get used to the fact I wouldn’t be playing this offseason, but health is always going to come first and everyone needed to be protected. Now that I have gotten into routine and found a personal basketball trainer, I’m really excited to get super fit for the next WNBL season.”
Fans saw Rocci rapidly improve over the course of the 2019-20 season as she found her scoring power and became a challenging defender.
“Last season I saw my game really develop with the help from my teammates and coaches who pushed me along the way.
“The likes of Kia Nurse, Kelsey Griffin and Mariana Tolo really helped me develop and having those players to lean on and play with every day really helped me succeed.
“Going forward I want to continue where I left off on the backend of my season and help my team get to the championship again while working on my fitness and three-point shot.”
