Orange Eagles show their support for UC Caps

The University of Canberra Capitals were welcomed with the extra support of the Orange Eagles in last weekend’s game against Townsville. Around 120 people from the New South Wales town turned up to the match thanks to the support of the UC Capital’s southern and rural NSW community partner, ActewAGL. Members of the Orange Eagles were able to meet the UC Caps players after the game and also took part in the half time shot clock challenge. Orange Basketball competition coordinator, Carmen Dederer said that the players thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the nation’s capital. “The Orange Eagles athletes had a wonderful experience at the game. They enjoyed the quality of the match and were very excited that the UC Caps won,” she said. “Many of our players’ parents are new to basketball and couldn’t get over the physicality of the game, but were impressed with how good the sportsmanship was regardless.” The increasing number of UC Capitals fans across both the ACT and NSW is a testament to the growth of women’s sport in Australia.   Aaron Palazzo
