Preview: Round 5 on the road

November 6, 2019 | UC Capitals news

The UC Capitals will face possibly their toughest road trip of the season this week as they head to Melbourne to play the Southside Flyers and Melbourne Boomers.

On Thursday night, the UC Capitals will play their first-ever game against the Southside Flyers, who are currently undefeated and sitting on top of the ladder. Olivia Epoupa will go head to head with former UC Capitals point guard Leilani Mitchell alongside American import Mercedes Russell and Australian Opal Jenna O’Hea.

Although UC Capitals co-captain Marianna Tolo is aware of the challenge ahead tomorrow night, she’s confident they have what it takes to get the win over the Flyers.

“They look like they’re in really good form but at the same time no one’s unbeatable. If we play the way that we can, we can get them,” said Tolo.

The UC Capitals will have to then back it up on Saturday night with a rematch against the Melbourne Boomers who have had a great start to the season with a 5-1 run.  Up until Monday, when they met the Flyers, the Boomers remained undefeated.

After suffering a 35-point loss in the last game against the Boomers in Round 3, the UC Capitals will be out for redemption before the FIBA break.
