Thank you to departing players

July 16, 2024 | UC Capitals news

The UC Capitals would like to thank the following players, after recently announcing their departure from the club to take up different opportunities within Australia and overseas.

After five seasons with the UC Capitals, Gemma Potter has signed with newly formed WNBL club Geelong United. Gemma made her WNBL debut with the Capitals in 2019, going on to be part of their Championship winning season. After a run of injury, the guard returned to the court last season and built upon her impressive career, racking up 194 points, 51 rebounds, 14 assists and was awarded the 23/24 Kellie Abrams Defensive Player of the Year.

Alex Sharp has signed with a Spanish club based out of Madrid, after a successful three season in the WNBL. After two seasons with Perth Lynx, Alex moved to the Capitals where she went from strength to strength, being named WNBL Breakout Player of the Year, and Capitals Players’ Player. Meantime 23/24 Capital on the Rise Alex Fowler is returning to her home-town and home club, signing a deal with the Townsville Fire and Monica Okoye has taken up an opportunity back home in Japan with the Sunflowers.

The UC Capitals would like to wish these players all the best with their next chapter.
