Tough road trip for the UC Capitals

November 12, 2022 | UC Capitals news

The UC Capitals have come away with a 35 point loss to Perth Lynx in Round 2 of the Cygnett WNBL, with the rising star Shaneice Swain again shining.

The first quarter saw the UC Capitals looking for ways to stem the flow of an on fire Sami Whitcomb, with defence again a focus for the side.

Down by 24 points in the first half, the Caps came out strongly after the break, managing to hold Perth off and get a few points of their own on the board.

In her first time starting for the Caps, 19-year-old Shaneice Swain again showed confidence beyond her years, finishing the night with 12 points and five rebounds while Dekeiya Cohen again top scored with 17.

Sherrie Calleia made her Caps debut in the fifth minute of the first quarter, while development player Abby Solway was also brought on in the final minute.

The UC Capitals will travel to Melbourne next week to take on the Boomers on Sunday November 20.
