UC Capitals boost athlete care with Accelerate Physiotherapy
The UC Capitals are proud to announce a partnership with Accelerate Physiotherapy for the 24/25 Cygnett WNBL season.
Accelerate provides the highest quality care while promoting high level wellbeing practices for their staff and clients. Their whole team is fortified with values that they apply to everything they do, including their support of the Capitals, and the partnership is leading expectations for wellbeing in elite sport.
“We are extremely pleased to have the team at Accelerate Physiotherapy looking after our UC Capitals players this season. Their holistic approach in looking after the team will undoubtedly allow our players to perform at their peak levels on the court,” said Lucille Bailie, General Manager of the UC Capitals.
Brianna Jones, lead physiotherapist, will work alongside Nathan Bizjak who joins as supporting physiotherapist. Will Maher, Director and physiotherapist, sits in an assisting role, with over 10 years of experience in elite sport.
Accelerate brings a new level of support to the UC Capitals, supplying the players with pre-season screening, concussion baseline screening, recovery packs and ongoing preventative measures.
“Women face so many challenges in the elite sporting world, so it’s really exciting to be at the forefront supporting the team. We aim to stay ahead and on top of any potential injury as we are all about prevention over reaction,” said Brianna.
The Accelerate Physiotherapy team is coordinated by Jen Maher, Director, who is a key contributor to the UC Capitals physical performance program.
“I am so thrilled to be involved with this incredible team, we can’t wait to see what they do this season. With the increase in popularity of women’s elite sport, the demand placed on these athletes increase every year. Now more than ever the Capitals need an army behind them, and Accelerate will be providing exactly that.” said Jen.
The UC Capitals players may argue that Accelerate Physiotherapy’s clinic cavoodle, Polly, plays a key role in their wellbeing, frequently attending training sessions and getting involved in team huddles.
