UC Capitals fall to a fighting fit Melbourne Boomers

October 15, 2017 | UC Capitals news

The University of Canberra Capitals have dropped their second game of the week falling to the Melbourne Boomers, 63-92.

The UC Capitals are now two from four after losing their first road trip earlier in the week, 65-76 to Townsville Fire.

The UC Capitals began the first quarter against Melbourne with plenty of momentum with their starting five combining for 17-points, heading into the break tying with the visitors.

However, a second quarter barrage from opposition centre Liz Cambage spelled trouble for the home team as the visiting side went into the half-time break with an 8-point lead.

The UC Capitals shot just 36% from the field with Lauren Scherf and Jordan Hooper combining for 13 points, leaving the home side winning the third quarter yet still trailing to the Melbourne Boomers 37-67.

The last quarter saw the UC Capitals struggle to keep up with a physical Melbourne roster, going down 63-92 .

After a disappointing weekend, the UC Capitals will look towards defending their home turf next Sunday as they take on 7th placed Dandenong Rangers.
