UC Capitals waver under Perth’s shooting barrage
The UC Capitals suffered their second loss to the Perth Lynx in just five days on Wednesday night with a disappointing blowout, 73-102.
Canberra fans were hopeful when at half-time the Caps had managed to keep the Lynx at bay with a three-point lead, 50-47.
Momentum swung in Perth’s way from the third quarter, though, outscoring the UC Caps 55 points to 23.
A combination of Kelsey Griffin (17 points, 5 rebounds), Britt Smart (14 points) and Britt Sykes (14 points, 6 rebounds) kept the scoreboard ticking for the Capitals.
Although they managed to slow down Perth’s Marina Mabrey this game, the damage was done by Darcee Garbin (24 points, 9 rebounds), Ashleigh Isenbarger (19 points) and Lauren Scherf (15 points, 14 rebounds).
The UC Capitals have just two days to adjust before facing the Southside Flyers for the first time this season.
