The University of Canberra Capitals will wear the ‘We Got You’ campaign logo on their playing uniforms for the 2020 WNBL season in support of racial equality.

The campaign, lead by Australian Boomer and San Antonio Spur Patrick Mills, aims to bring awareness to the negative impact of structural racism that exists in sport and the wider community, spark conversation, set the standard of integrity and encourage action to achieve the ultimate goal of a world where no one is singled out because of their colour, origin or ethnicity.

The team has undergone two online zoom sessions with Mills where they discussed their personal experiences with racism and will look to take part in other activities throughout the year.

UC Capitals captain Kelsey Griffin is proud to be taking a stand against racism in sport

“We have a unique opportunity in sport to create an environment where everyone has a place. That’s why it is so exciting that we can use this platform to team up with the We Got You campaign to let Indigenous Australians know that we are saying enough is enough and We Got You”

The UC Capitals will also wear an Indigenous Uniform for one game this season with ‘Ngunnawal Country’ displayed prominently across the front of the jersey. UC Caps management approached, and was granted, permission to do so from a Ngunnawal Elder and the club will promote Indigenous contributions to the team in the past present.
