UC Capitals take the next step with Next Step Basketball

August 25, 2020 | UC Capitals news

Local basketball equipment and services supplier, Next Step Basketball, has renewed their partnership with the UC Capitals for the next two seasons.

Next Step had a significant presence at UC Capitals HQ, the University of Canberra, as well as home games, uniting the community with a range of court setups.

The company installed five 3×3 courts around the UC campus which became an outlet for UC Capitals players such as Marianna Tolo and Keely Froling during state-wide coronavirus restrictions. Throughout the 2019-20 season, Next Step also added to fans’ game day experience by setting up popup courts outside the playing venue.

Director of Next Step Basketball Shane Lowndes said that continuing to be part of the Capitals family after the back-to-back Championship last season was important with everything going on in 2020.

“As a locally-based company, supporting basketball in the ACT and women’s basketball is especially is important to us and our families.  We have had a great response to the Swish 3×3 Courts and Dr Dish machines at UC, especially with the players in the off-season during the ‘Iso-training’ period.

“The Capitals provides our company with a great platform to showcase the world class, innovative basketball training equipment we have access to through the Goalrilla, Swish and Dr Dish brands.

“Like the Capitals, we have added in a few new ‘Championship pieces’ ourselves in the off-season with some new product lines that we hope will continue to support the Capitals and their members over the coming seasons,” said Mr Lowndes.

General Manager of the UC Capitals, Lucille Bailie, said it is a pleasure to have Next Step Basketball back on board.

“We take great pride in partnering with local people and organisations to showcase our talent and that of our partners.

“As the local go-to business for 3X3 outdoor courts and the exciting Dr Dish shooting machine, it feels like we’re a match made in heaven. The UC Caps players in particular have enjoyed using the new 3X3 courts and Dr Dish to hone their skills in the off-season, so we truly value our continuing partnership with Next Step Basketball.”
