UC Capitals to tip off season at home
UC Capitals fans are in for a bigger and better 2022/23 season, and it all starts with game one at the National Convention Centre.
The WNBL has today released the fixture for the season and fans are in for an opening game treat, with the Caps to host the Bendigo Spirit and take on their former captain Kelsey Griffin on Friday, November 4 from 6.30pm.
It will also be the first chance for fans to see their returning favourites and exciting new signings in Emilee Whittle-Harmon, Bec Pizzey, Dekeiya Cohen, Sherrie Calleia and Rae Burrell.
From there, it’s on the road, travelling to Townsville, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide, with fans able to catch every game, all to be aired LIVE on 9now and ESPN, as announced today by the WNBL.
Weeks on the road will be rewarded with three rounds at home, hosting the Sydney Uni Flames, Southside Flyers and Perth Lynx.
The tail end of the schedule sees the Caps round out the regular season at the NCCC, before finals tip off from March 5.
Head Coach Kristen Veal said while it’s a busy schedule, the team can’t wait to get started.
“I think the fixture is solid for us, it suits us,” she said.
“It gives us some time to build momentum into the season, enough time for injury or illness management. I’m pleased with the schedule.
“It’s candy for people who like planning and for me, it means we can enter those games into the schedule, we can start planning our trainings, our activities, our recovery, even our mini breaks for the players. We can share it all with them and look forward to their peak times and their down times.”
Memberships for the UC Capitals season go on sale to the public on Friday, September 9.
