Long-serving and respected referee Kylie Voevodin clocked up game 150 on Saturday evening, when the JCU Townsville Fire and Brydens Sydney Uni Flames faced off, after 18 years of officiating in the league.

Voevodin’s time as a top-flight referee dates back to 2001, coincidentally the same year that Townsville were formed.

As Voevodin prepared to officiate the Round 15 clash, she was awarded a certificate of achievement.

“It’s a privilege to have served in the league for 18 years, let alone be doing my 150th game,” said Voevodin.

“I still love and enjoy the game as much as did from the very start.

“Every time I step on the court, I step on with pride and honour and always strive to do my best.”

With nearly two decades of experience and numerous WNBL finals games refereed, Voevodin has seen a lot in her time but Saturday night marked a special occasion as her milestone coincided with the retirement of two legends in Suzy Batkovic and Belinda Snell.

“To be stepping on the court with such accomplished players, two of whom were playing their last game, is certainly humbling,” said Voevodin.
