SOUTHSIDE FLYERS VS ADELAIDE LIGHTNING – TUESDAY 17 NOVEMBER – POSTPONED

November 17, 2020 | WNBL news

Basketball Australia has had to postpone this afternoon’s 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL Round 2 match featuring the Jayco Southside Flyers and Adelaide Lightning in Townsville (5.00pm local tip off).

On Monday 16 November, the Queensland Government advised the Australian public that anyone who had entered the state of Queensland from South Australia on or after Monday 9 November must self-isolate until they have been tested for COVID-19. The Lightning departed Adelaide at 6:10am (local) on Monday 9 November on a direct flight to Brisbane.

Queensland Health has this afternoon confirmed to Basketball Australia that Adelaide Lightning will need to remain in self quarantine in Townsville until Monday 23 November, having been isolated and confined to their accommodation since Monday afternoon’s announcement by the Queensland Government.

All members of the Adelaide Lightning travelling party have been tested and are awaiting results.

No member of the travelling party or the League as a whole has shown any signs or symptoms for COVID-19.

The League is now meeting to discuss what this means for the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season fixture, with an announcement to be made in due course.

The Flyers vs Lightning match this afternoon was part of a double-header with the JCU Townsville Fire and Brydens Sydney Uni Flames, which will still proceed as scheduled at 7.00pm local.
