Visionary Plans for WNBL’s Future Announced
In early 2023, Basketball Australia (“BA”) undertook a comprehensive review of the WNBL to identify a pathway for the league to 2035.
Over recent months, BA has been working with WNBL clubs and key stakeholders, on establishing new Governance for the league for the 2024/25 season and beyond. This work has included building an exciting new vision and strategy for the WNBL to 2035.
To deliver on the vision and strategy, BA is pleased to advise that EagleHawk Capital, an independent mergers, acquisitions and capital raising advisor has been appointed to assist BA to raise capital for the league.
As part of a restructure of the league, BA and stakeholders are seeking to engage third party capital investment into the WNBL to promote its future growth.
EagleHawk Capital and Basketball Australia are currently engaging with potential investors.
Matt Scriven CEO Basketball Australia emphasised that BA is committed to working towards an investment model that will ensure sustainable growth of the WNBL.
“The new vision and strategy is an important piece of work developed by all stakeholders to ensure a successful and exciting future for the WNBL. We have seen what other women’s sports have done in recent years and we strongly believe that that WNBL is a fantastic product with great potential that will garner significant interest from investors both domestically and globally,” said Scriven.
