Boomers To Announce 8 Ambassadors In 8 Weeks

In the lead-up to the 2017-18 WNBL season, the Deakin Melbourne Boomers will announceÊ8 Ambassadors in 8 Weeks. Whilst there will be a strong basketball flavour, Melbourne's WNBL team searched across the sporting and entertainment world, and the wider community, to unearth passionate leaders of women in sport. And of course they are Boomers supporters! "It's a great idea, I really like it," said Assistant GM Lauren Jackson, adding, "Our club is growing quickly, the Melbourne community is getting behind its WNBL team and to have eight ambassadors representing the Boomers is a terrific initiative." "Some of our ambassadors are individuals, some are families, which of course has a very strong tie-in with our family culture at the Boomers." Starting from next Wednesday August 9, the Boomers will be unveiling an ambassador each week for the eight weeks leading into the start of the season. "The front office is tight-lipped, we aren't letting too much out at the moment, but we're looking forward to revealing the eight ambassadors. Expect a few surprises," Lauren added with a smile. The role of each ambassador will be to help promote the Deakin Melbourne Boomers, attend some games and functions, along with encouraging the community to jump on board and support Melbourne's WNBL team.
