Melbourne Girls Academy A Booming Success

April 4, 2017 | Melbourne Boomers news
After its opening six weeks, the Melbourne Boomers Girls Academy has proven to be an instant success with players from across Melbourne flocking to be a part of the WNBL club's player pathway. More than 80 girls aged from 9 to 18 have attended the first academy block, a result Coach Guy Molloy believes is just the stepping stone to helping the Boomers fully connect with the grassroots level. "The academy has already proven to be a fantastic platform to connecting the grassroots level of the game with the elite level of a WNBL club," said Molloy, adding "Our coaches and WNBL players who have been involved are really impressed with the quality and determination to learn that has been shown by more than eighty young girls." "Our focus is on fundamentals, teaching the players the right way and helping them to progress all areas of their game. The improvementÊof every player over the last six weeks has been terrific, you can already see their skill set developing." The first academy intake completes its six-week block on April 4, with the next intake commencing on Tuesday May 2. All sessions are held at the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South.
