Southside Extinguish Flames To Finish With 17-4 Record – Flyers Round 16 Wrap-Up
Your Jayco Southside Flyers ended the Chemist Warehouse #WNBL20 regular season with a commanding victory over the Sydney Uni Flames.
Having already secured the minor premiership and semi-final home advantage, the Flyers finished on a high by defeating the injury-hit Flames, 78-61, at Dandenong Stadium on Saturday night.

Southside finished Round 16 with a sensational 17-4 home-and-away record having won four of our past five games ahead of post-season action.
Sara Blicavs warmed up for the Opals trip to France for the FIBA Olympic Qualifiers with an MVP performance which featured 18 points, and flawless shooting at 100 per cent, plus 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Our star import Mercedes Russell played just under 20 minutes but still managed 17 points, while Bec Cole (10 points) was the other Flyer to soar into double digits.
Given the margin and with Blicavs and Leilani Mitchell about to board the plane to France, coach Cheryl Chambers was able to call upon her bench and get some valuable court time into the likes of Anneli Maley (11 points, 6 rebounds) and Louella Tomlinson who played just over 20 minutes as well as Amy O’Neill, Bec Pizzey, Kiera Rowe, Jackie Trotto and Tayla Giliam with all players doing well and receiving warm welcomes and support from our fantastic home crowd.
With Chambers also with the Opals for the qualifiers, as an assistant coach to head coach Sandy Brondello, Jayco Southside Flyers assistant coach Belinda Snell will take the reins this week as the rest of the squad continues to practice and finetune for our inaugural Chemist Warehouse WNBL finals series!
Your Flyers will tip off their finals campaign on Tuesday February 18 at Dandenong Stadium against the Adelaide Lightning who finished the season in fourth spot.
Game 2 will be played in Adelaide at Titanium Security Arena on Saturday February 22 with a deciding Game 3, if required, back on the Flyers home court on Wednesday February 26.
