Sydney opened on their first possession down the court through Ella Leasuasu, before solid defence and a fast-paced offence led to an Anderson lay-in. But a pair of Ally Wilson threes for the Lynx stemmed the flow for Perth. Further scores by Mowbray and Asha Phillips kept Sydney’s scoreboard ticking over. A long bomb by Anderson in the final stages made it 49-38 at three-quarter time.
Anderson and Lily Austin both hit triples early the fourth, as Sydney closed to within six. But a 7-0 run, capped by a Wilson triple, made it a double-digit game again. Quick scores by Pitman and Anderson saw Renae Garlepp’s close to within five (60-55). Despite a late flurry, the hosts held on for a six-point win.
