Flames look towards WNBL 2018-19

Brydens Sydney Uni Flames playing across QBL, SEABL and the NSW Waratah League will be looking ahead to the upcoming 2018-19 WNBL season as each of their current seasons came to an end at the weekend.

In the NSW Waratah League, Sarah Graham’s Hornsby Spiders failed to progress to the grand final after falling to Sutherland, 99-81. Sarah finished with 16 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds.

Norths took out the final after defeating Sutherland, 90-70.

Following Ipswich Force’s 95-72 preliminary final win over Mackay in QBL, Amanda ‘AJ’ Johnson’s team fell to Southern Districts Spartans by five, 89-84.

AJ finished with a double-double (17 points and 15 rebounds), also adding 6 assists. Southern Districts will now face Townsville in the league’s grand final series this weekend.

In the South East Australian Basketball League Grand Final, Alex Wilson’s Launceston Tornadoes fell at the hands of Bendigo, 119-96.

Following an outstanding season with the Tasmanian outfit, Alex contributed 12 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists in the final.
