Martin highlights importance of Future Flames program

As Hoops Capital approaches the second year of the Harvey Norman Future Flames, it’s important to highlight what made the debut season so successful.
While also providing a legit pathway for NSW’s top up-and-coming female talent, it also laid the platform for Flame #229 Caitlyn Martin to achieve a goal and make her WNBL debut during the 2024-25 campaign.
“The Future Flames program created some new connections for me and provided me with my first experience playing in the WNBL through HoopsFest, before allowing me to make my debut soon after,” Martin said.
Further to that, having experienced the program first-hand, Martin, much like teammate Carla Pitman, reiterated how beneficial it is for young women hoping to follow in her footsteps to the WNBL.

“The program provides invaluable opportunities for NSW juniors, which is important as it encourages women to stay in sport and continue to play basketball,” said the Norths Bears talent.
“It shows NSW juniors that playing professionally is something that can be achieved.”
