Molloy’s Flames ready to level series at home

February 26, 2025 | Sydney Flames news

Following a courageous fightback on Sunday, Guy Molloy’s Sydney Flames are confident they can level their WNBL25 semi-final series with Bendigo on Thursday.

Despite the game one loss on Sunday at Red Energy Arena, coach Molloy took plenty of positives from the result.

“This is obviously the club’s first time in final for seven seasons and if the club is going to get back to the highest level, we’re going to produce that effort we showed in the second half on Sunday each time we step on the court,” Molloy said.

“As we group, after watching the tape, we know that’s the standards we set for ourselves at the Flames and we appreciate that’s the level we’re going to have to play at on Thursday for the full four quarters.

“I’m confident in the group we have and excited to see them play at the level I know they’re capable of.”

As Molloy touches on, Thursday’s fixture represents the first WNBL finals game in the harbour city since the 2017-18 season.

“The way Flames fans have gotten around our team this season has been amazing – always coming with strong voices,” he said.

“Their support really lifts the team and adds points for us, so we can’t wait to see them all at Quaycentre on Thursday.”
