Rowe’s Flames chase third WNBL straight victory
The Sydney Flames’ WNBL24 season has officially ignited after two big wins in round eight against the Melbourne Boomers and Bendigo Spirit.
These pair of victories have seen the harbour city side move to 6-5 on the season – just half a game outside the all-important top four.
“We have had solid wins in the last two games, and it has been great for us to find some rhythm on the court,” said Flames forward Kiera Rowe, who has started in both of those victories.
“We reviewed our other games, made some adjustments and continued to practice hard which helped us to find a bit more continuity on offence.”
Rowe and her side will look to make it three wins in a row on Friday when they host the league-leading Townsville Fire at Qudos Bank Arena.
“We played Townsville recently, just the week before Christmas,” said Flame #192.
“Since then we have reviewed the game and made relevant adjustments, so as always, the keys will be locking in and sticking to our game plan from start to finish.”
The round nine fixture will also mark the second Hoops Capital double-header of the 2023-24 season, with the WNBL game at 5pm AEDT before the NBL match between the Kings and Taipans from 7.30pm.

“The Hoops Capital double-headers are great for basketball in Sydney, enhancing community engagement and excitement,” the Victorian product said.
“Having both the Flames and Kings teams able to showcase their talent on the same stage creates a great opportunity for fans to experience a great day of basketball excitement.”
