Lynx fall to fast finishing Lightning

October 12, 2017 | Perth Lynx news

The Perth Lynx have dropped their opening game of the week falling to the Adelaide Lightning, 81-89.

The Lynx fought hard in the first quarter to earn a close lead at the first break, and continued their strong play throughout the second quarter.

However, a third and fourth quarter barrage from the hometown Lightning, led by Abby Bishop, spelled trouble for the visiting Lynx, who have open the season with a 0-2 record.

Courtney Williams continued her strong scoring form, dropping 25 points in the match, while Kayla Standish scored 14 points along with 10 rebounds recording an impressive double-double in her 100th career game.

Alex Ciabattoni gave the visitors a boost against her former side, scoring 13 points, including 11 during a red-hot stretch throughout the second quarter.

Amanda Dowe built off of her Lynx debut with another strong performance, as the Lynx outscored Adelaide by 10 points with the interior defender on the floor.

After a disappointing start for the Perth Lynx, the team must quickly shift their focus to their next game, as they take on the Bendigo Spirit on Saturday 14 October.

Their second game in three days, the clash with Bendigo offers a chance for the Lynx to jumpstart their season, and you can watch the game LIVE on Fox Sports 503 at 12pm noon.
