The Perth Lynx organisation are excited to announce the signing of Miela Goodchild to the roster for the upcoming 2023-24 Season.

The 23-year-old guard comes to the Lynx after a solid year with the Melbourne Boomers last season. Representing Australia in Under 17, Under 18 and Under 19, she also had a hugely successful college career at blue chip school Duke, where she reached the 100 three-pointer milestone quicker than any player in the program’s history.

A late addition to the Boomers squad last season didn’t stop Miela from making an immediate impact, averaging 6.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1 assist per game, with breakout games against Bendigo Spirit and Adelaide Lightning where she scored 18 points, 4 assists and 17 points 5 rebounds respectively.

Miela is currently playing for the Mt Gambier Pioneers in the NBL1 South competition averaging 27.5 Points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.5 assist a game.

On her decision to move West, Miela said, “It was a blast and an exciting opportunity to play in the WNBL last season to start my professional career. I am super excited to play my first full season in the WNBL with the Perth Lynx, surrounded by the great fans on the West Coast.

“I love Perth’s aggressive style of play and I’m excited to get amongst it! I am more determined than ever to keep improving, develop and expand my game. I believe that with the Lynx program, teammates, coaches and staff, I am in the best possible environment to do that.  I am already counting down the days and ready to get to work!”

Head Coach Ryan Petrik is excited to add a new recruit to the roster for this upcoming season, saying “Miela is someone we’d been tracking throughout her 4 years at Duke, and we simply had to jump at the chance to sign her. A multiple time Australian junior representative, Miela is an up-and-coming star of this league, and with her style of play we cannot wait to see what she can do inside our system.”

The Perth Lynx roster for Season 2023/24 includes:  Amy Atwell, Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard, Chloe Forster & Miela Goodchild.
