Nicholson claims second Player of Round honour for WNBL24
For the second time in WNBL24, Sydney Flames guard Lauren Nicholson has been recognised for her exceptional play by taking out the competition’s Player of the Round honour.
After winning it in round six, the Sutherland product matched the accomplishment by steering the Hoops Capital club to a pair of massive wins in round eight.
The first came on the road against the Melbourne Boomers, where Nicholson produced 24 points (6/8 from downtown), four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
The 30-year-old backed it up with a 20-point, six-board, four-dime and two-steal performance against Bendigo at Quaycentre on December 22.

As a result, Nicholson (who averaged 22 points, five rebounds and 3.5 assists across the two games) was also named in the round eight Team of the Week alongside Perth duo Aari McDonald and Amy Atwell, Melbourne’s Keely Froling and Canberra’s Jade Melbourne.
Nicholson and her harbour city side return to the hardwood on Friday, December 22 when they host Townsville from 5pm AEDT at Quaycentre – in the first game of the Hoops Capital double-header (with the Kings taking on the Taipans from 7.30pm).
