Batkovic says buy a bale

JCU Townsville Fire captain Suzy Batkovic has issued a public plea for the community to support our farmers and ‘Buy a Bale.’
Feeling helpless after seeing and hearing of the conditions our farmers are presently facing due to drought conditions, the six-time WNBL MVP decided to take action and has established an online fundraising page to highlight the plight of Rural Aid.
Our farmers need our help so please donate, Every little bit helps. We have a long way to go so if you haven’t yet, click the Link and donate please. Our farmers are doing it really tough. Anything is greatly appreciated ❤️ Suz x @buyabale https://t.co/1upg0P0UF1

The ‘Buy a Bale’ campaign provides meaningful support for farmers by delivering hay and other essential items to farmers who have no feed left for their cattle.
To date, a roll call of past and present Australian basketball stars have supported Batkovic’s rally cry including:
* Andrew Bogut;
* Lauren Jackson;
* Michele Timms;
* Kristi Harrower;
* Brad Newley;
* Abby Bishop;
* Kelsey Griffin;
* Rachael McCully;
* Mia Murray;
* Marianna Tolo;
* Jenna O’Hea; and
* Claudia Brassard.
“I’m inspired by the work that Rural Aid are conducting – particularly in relation to the Buy a Bale program – and wanted to be able to assist in any way that I could,” Batkovic said.
“Instead of feeling helpless, I wanted to be able to use my platform as a way to assist our famers, and to date, I’ve been overwhelmed by the support shown by the community at large.
“Whether you can afford $5 or $50, every little bit counts it and assists Rural Aid with being able to purchase hay for and from our farmers who desperately need our help.
“I think we’ve only just scratched the surface.”
