George & Wiese to meet in WNBA semi-finals
JCU Townsville Fire recruits Cayla George and Sydney Wiese will go head-to-head in the WNBA semi-finals after Phoenix advanced to the penultimate round against Los Angeles.
Having survived a cut-throat elimination final against Seattle, the Mercury disposed of Connecticut 88-83 earlier today – the number three seed – to set up a tantalising showdown with the Sparks.

As a side story, George and Wiese, who will shortly become teammates during the 2017/18 WNBL season, will be on opposite sides of the court, with only one able to advance to the championship series.
On the opposite side of the draw, Washington kept their championship dreams alive and will face Minnesota – the number one seed – in the best-of-five series.
