Major champion backs Fire golf day

JCU Townsville Fire Ambassador Karrie Webb is waiting in anticipation ahead of the club’s inaugural Golf Day at Willows next week. With the winners of the Ambrose event securing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play 18 holes with the seven-time major champion, Webb, who is currently preparing for an assault at her eighth title later this month, said she was looking forward to the outcome of the event. I look forward to meeting and playing a round with the winners.” Having become a Fire Ambassador in 2015, Webb can be regularly seen at Townsville Stadium or following the side via or social media accounts as she played across the world. As a lover of sport, the golfing great said she was thrilled to be associated with a club that is able to provide positive, healthy, female role models. “Being a woman competing in another professional sport, I admire the hard work and determination that all the women in the Townsville Fire display year in and year out,” Webb said. “They are great role models for all girls and boys to look up to. “It’s up to all of us as supporters to continue to do our part to lift the girls up during the season at Townsville Stadium and bring another national championship back to Townsville.” The fundraising event will also feature the Fire’s players, coaches and ambassadors and will include the opportunity to secure these as part of your team!
