Happy Homecoming for Payne
27 year old, 1.88m Power Forward – Nadeen Payne will be back with the JCU Townsville Fire for WNBL season 2020/21.
Payne, a Townsville local averaged over 10 points a game in the WNBL last season and is looking forward to bringing her game back to Townsville. Her WNBL experience will be a huge asset to the new look Fire team, with Payne having played over 200 games.
Fire Head Coach Shannon Seebohm thinks it is fantastic to be able to bring Nadeen back into the Fire program, not only for her ability on the court, but to welcome a local home.
Seebohm believes “Payne’s skill set as a versatile 4 suits how we want to play perfectly and will compliment other players on the roster really well.
Her experience, work ethic and talent is really exciting to bring back to the club, signing Nadeen was really important to help us achieve our goals for the upcoming season and I look forward to welcoming her back to Townsville .”
Payne is looking forward to the move back to Townsville and will head North in August for an extended preseason.
“I am really excited to be coming home, I cant wait to play for Shannon, I have really enjoyed my conversations with him and the team he is putting together sounds great, I think we will surprise a lot of people when the season starts.”
“My Mum and dad still live in Townsville, it will be great to be back around my family and playing Fire colours again, I am even more excited to learn that this season is the Fire’s 20th season and can not wait to be apart of the celebrations and back with the local community, I think our team will be one that they will be really excited to get around” Payne Said
Payne joins, Lauren Nicholson, Shyla Heal, Mia Murray, Kate Gaze and Zitina Aokuso in the JCU Townsville Fire line up announced so far.
